“Tapping” or “Emotional Freedom Technique” (EFT) is a form of psychological acupressure, based on the same energy meridians used in ancient Chinese acupuncture practices, to treat physical and emotional ailments for over five thousand years, but without the invasiveness of needles.

My problem started when I moved to New York City in my 30’s. My monthly rent was more than I earned, my office felt more like a battlefield than a workplace, and I had a new marriage and baby to top it off. I was overwhelmed, addicted to food, and the scale kept going up and up…
Eventually the pressure and tension was too much and I crumbled. My food cravings were insatiable, and my weight was spiraling out of control. I was 410lbs, and unbelievably unhappy. At times I didn’t think life was worth living. Like most people, I thought it was my fault – that I didn’t have enough will power – or that I needed a better workout routine to combat the weight.
But that couldn’t be further from the truth.
What many people don’t know is that chronic stress mimics a famine state. Your body gets confused and signals you to eat more food in an attempt to keep you safe. Your primitive biology gets mixed up by our modern world—and the results can be devastating, and they were for me.
How I Used A Mind-Body Approach to Lose 220lbs
& Have Kept it Off for Over 10 Years
After trying and failing at all the traditional approaches to weight loss, I became a fanatical researcher and uncovered a “stress-and-fat connection” that no one was talking about back then.
Very quickly, I realized that all the diet and exercise knowledge in the world was useless if I didn’t balance my body naturally, from the inside out. While everyone focused on calories, my research revealed that hormones held the real key to weight gain and weight loss. And I’m happy to report that I was on to something.
Over a period of 2 1/2 years, I lost an amazing 220 lbs, and completely transformed my body and my life. I used many different mind-body techniques during my transformation including EFT Tapping, meditation, Qi Gong, Energy Healing and many more. I’ve kept the weight off now for 10 years, and I’ve taught this inside-out approach to weight loss to over 350,000 people all across the globe through my books, coaching programs, and seminars.

With this very question in mind, I invited a small group of 12 participants to work with myself and Carol Look, a gifted Meridian Tapping expert, psychotherapist and healer.
We came together for a private workshop to talk about the real issues in our lives: workplace stress, relationships, financial struggles, loss, hardship, and pain. Many people would ask: “What does any of that have to do with weight loss?” And my answer is, “Everything!”
We called the workshop, “Lose the Stress, Lose the Weight” and we decided to use Meridian Tapping as our primary technique for healing and release.

In a clinical trial at Marshall University Medical School, 32 war veterans suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) were put through a series of Tapping sessions. After just 6 sessions, 87% of these subjects were cleared from any further symptoms of PTSD. As a comparison, conventional therapy typically cures only 40% of PTSD patients.
5. Tapping helps reduce your phobias
A study published in the Journal of Clinical Psychology in 2003 showed that one Tapping session with 35 participants was enough to demonstrate a significant decrease in specific phobias, for instance the phobia of small animals, when compared to conventional treatments like deep breathing. In follow-up tests 6 to 9 months later, those who had experienced Tapping reported even better improvements.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS…
Is it true that local governments are using tapping to treat Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)?
Yes, it’s also been used in war-torn Uganda where people have lost their families and are suffering, and in local schools when there has been tragic loss of life.
Is this like hypnosis?
No, this is nothing like hypnosis, you do not go into an altered state or use suggestions of any kind.
Is this better done in person?
In person tapping with a tapping therapist is wonderful, and if you get the chance to experience that—do it! But tapping is something anyone can safely learn at home too, which is why we recommend it so highly.
Is this like talk therapy?
No, this is mind-body therapy based on present emotions. You will not be asked to relive traumatic experiences from the past, this is a different approach.
Do I need any special tools to practice this?
No, tapping is done with 2 fingers, it’s quite simple and effective.
Is this the kind of thing where I have to believe in Eastern religions or chants to make it work?
No,there is nothing religious about this practice at all. It’s more mechanical than anything.
