Jon:  

Hi Sarah.

Sarah:  

Hi.

Jon:  

Hi, how are you?

Sarah:  

I’m very good, thank you.

Jon:  

How are you surviving the dust storms?

Sarah:  

The dust storm went past last night. Well, it was here most of the day. I live on a beautiful little beach area in Mission and I have Dunk Island in front of me and I couldn’t even see Dunk Island.

Jon:  

Wow. Where’s Mission? Where is that? Is it north or south?

Sarah:  

Mission Beach is halfway between Cairns and Townsville.

Jon:  

Oh, okay, so you’re way up there. So tell me what’s happening in your life? How can I help you?

Sarah:  

I basically have been 80 kilos for nearly 20 years and I would like to get back down to the weight of 63 which was what I was at my second child.

Jon:  

Okay. Let me just translate 80 kilos for our pounds listeners is approximately -

Kelly:  

You’re really good at that, Jon.

Jon:  

Well, I’ve been living here for seven years. It comes pretty quick but it’s probably 180 I’d say, and she wants to get down to about 130.

Sarah:  

I see.

Jon:  

So that’s what we’re talking about. So you said after your second child; is that right?

Sarah:  

Yes. I’ve had three children and I — basically when the children turned about five, my metabolism ceased.

Jon:  

Well, when you say the children turned five, they didn’t all turn five did they?

Sarah:  

No. When the last one turned five so there’s two years between the three of them.

Jon:  

So there’s two years between them so you had a five-year-old, a seven-year-old and a nine-year-old?

Sarah:  

That’s correct.

Jon:  

And your metabolism just shut down; is that right?

Sarah:  

Yes. And prior to that I could eat anything, I could do anything, but now I just — I don’t even think I eat 8,000 kilojoules a day and I don’t lose it.

Jon:  

Okay. I need to translate that. That’s about 1,500 calories. I’m the translator now, too, but you’re eating 8,000 kilojoules a day and what else is happening? Tell me. What were you going to say?

Sarah:  

I don’t crave fatty foods, I don’t eat sweet foods, I believe that my diet is very good. I think that my issues are more of fear that I’m holding on to it but I don’t think -

Jon:  

The first thing I want to say is I’ve just had breakfast this morning here in Melbourne with Helen who’s been on the show a couple of times and she comes to my seminars, and she’s lost about now 55 or 60 kilos which is about 120, 130 pounds. And she was in the same situation originally where she was eating nothing and not losing weight. And she would go to the doctor and the doctor would say, "Well just eat less," and she says, "It’s not cravings, I don’t have any cravings, and I’m not eating and I’m not losing weight." And they would say to her, and I don’t know if this has happened to you, Sarah, but they would say, "I bet if you wrote down everything you ate, you eat twice what you say you do," or something like that.

Kelly:  

Yeah, they don’t believe you.

Jon:  

Yeah but it was true in Helen’s case, and now she dealt with the issue, her real .issue, and she’s been losing weight. So I believe you when you say you don’t have cravings and it’s a very common thing what you’re telling me, especially with having children. When your child was five years old, were you working, were you doing anything else other than parenting?

Sarah:  

Yes. I had a couple of businesses.

Jon:  

You had a couple of businesses, okay. Let me tell you something. You have three kids which already is a more full-time job than any chairman of any multinational corporation could ever possibly imagine. So you have three kids and a couple of businesses; is that right?

Sarah:  

Yes.

Jon:  

Were you married or are you married?

Sarah:  

Yes. Yes, I was.

Jon:  

So what I’m hearing is a life that it’s not like you kind of got to sit around and wonder what am I going to do today. Am I right about that?

Sarah:  

Most definitely.

Jon:  

What I’m imagining is a life that has a stress level that’s probably — I guess the analogy, what’s coming up for me is, if you were on a treadmill and the treadmill was going faster than you could go but you had to stay on it, you couldn’t get off of it. Does that analogy kind of — does that sound similar to what your life was like back then?

Sarah:  

Most definitely, most definitely.

Jon:  

Most definitely and you can’t get off of it and of course you can’t get off of it, because when you have three kids it’s a full-time job and then you already have another job. So all of that stress is pulling at your energy, it’s pulling at you and it’s causing chemistry in your body and it doesn’t matter whether you’re eating this or eating that, that chemistry is going to cause your body to want to hold on to weight. And I think it was in Chapter 17 of the book that there’s the Success Profiles and I talk about this one lady, Sue, who had a kid and she couldn’t lose weight. And I made a prescription for her that she just spent one day a week just for herself. And I talked to her husband and we really stressed the importance of it and we made a list of all the things that she could do just for herself, with the reason being is because she was being pulled by her child and by work and all these things and when you’re being pulled like that, you’re being pulled from your own personal, private resource of energy. But there’s a whole nother source of energy that we all tap into when we have space and time. When we’re relaxed we tap into this infinite ocean of energy and we replenish.

And that’s why I made this CD called the Living Goddess Meditation specifically for people in your situation that need to reconnect with that infinite source of energy, because if you can reconnect with that infinite source of energy, you become more like a tap that your kids and your partner and your business can tap into and you don’t deplete your own personal energy.
Kelly:  

Jon, what is that in her case?

Jon:  

Well, I’m going to get to that. I’m going to get to that, Kelly, and definitely going to get there but the thing is, Kelly, she said that she’s had this weight since she was five years old, so that tells me that it’s not necessarily being — it’s not being triggered by a menopause or hormonal issue.

Kelly:  

I see.

Jon:  

So she’s had this, and tell me if I’m right about this also, Sarah, it’s not that you’ve been gaining and gaining and gaining, you just had this weight and you can’t lose it; is that right?

Sarah:  

Yes, that’s correct. I basically got to 80. The kids have no left home. I’m now in a new job. I’m living in a beautiful area. I’m listening to your tapes, but it’s like I just can’t hear them.

Jon:  

What do you mean? What happens when you can’t — you mean you fall asleep or something like that when you listen to it? What do you mean can’t hear it?

Sarah:  

I have been that treadmill runner, as you say.

Jon:  

Yeah, I gotcha.

Sarah:  

I can’t turn it off. So I can’t hear what you’re saying to be able to -

Jon:  

That’s okay. That’s okay for now. I’ll tell you what I need you to do. What’s your stress level like now?

Sarah:  

I’m a high school teacher, in my first year. So at the moment, it is stressful but it is getting better.

Jon:  

Okay, okay. This is what I’d like you to do. I’d like you to email my office. I think it’s Jenny — I think it’s Jenny, J-E-N-N-Y, @gabrielmethod.com and ask her to send you the Living Goddess Meditation and just give her your address and ask her to send it to you.

Sarah:  

Okay, that’s excellent.

Jon:  

Since you’re — I mean as a caller I’m more than happy to offer that to you free of charge. So just send her your address and I want you to find a time, preferably first thing in the morning or after school, one or the other, those two times, and make it a routine where that’s your 25 minutes and listen to that meditation every day for 25 minutes. That’s your space and time. It would be good if you had a space in your house where wherever it is you’re going to listen to it that was all set to go. So as soon as you get up, you just walk over, you turn on the CD, you close your eyes, you start practicing the meditation. That’s going to take care of the stress in your life. That’s going to make your life have much more flow, much more energy and what’s going to happen is, over time, your body is going to be able to let go of the stress because it realizes that you’re not in the type of incredible, incredible stress that you used to be in. Life’s going to get easier and easier for you and that’s going to allow you to lose the weight. So that’s what I would recommend.

Sarah:  

Okay, thank you, thank you, Jon.

Jon:

The only other thing I was going to say is, is it harder to lose weight because I don’t want to lose a huge amount? It’s only a nominal amount.

Jon:  

No, no, no. It’s got nothing to do with that, not at all. It’s got nothing to do with it. Just simply for you, you have led an incredibly stressful life and this is going to — you need to undo that. You need to really communicate to your body, on a cellular level, that that stress is not there anymore because what happens is that stress — your body doesn’t know how to react to stress, doesn’t understand the stresses of our lives, the mental and emotional stresses, and our bodies are programmed to react to stress by — as if we’re having a literal, physical threat to our survival. And so your body interpreted that as a need to hold on to excess weight like as if the stress was a famine or something like that. You’re going to be communicating to your body, on a cellular level, that you don’t have that stress anymore. It’s going to be very easy for you to lose the weight.
