I’ve got Melissa from Babylon.

Melissa:  

Hi. Can you hear me?

Jon:  

Hi, Melissa. Yeah, can you hear me?

Melissa:  

I can hear you perfectly.

Jon:  

Where’s Babylon?

Melissa:  

It’s Long Island.

Jon:  

Oh, by Long Island, okay.

Melissa:  

Long Island, New York.

Jon:  

Okay. I used to live in New York. How can I help you?

Melissa:  

I just want to tell you I’m honored to be able to get you on the phone. I’m jumping up and down. I’m like your biggest fan here in New York, I have to be.

Jon:  

That’s why I’m here, so.

Melissa:  

I just heard of you yesterday.

Jon:  

I’m sorry?

Melissa:  

I was standing in a bookstore. I was standing in Barnes & Noble and there was your book and I bought it and I read it and I did the visualization last night, and I didn’t know about the show today until I got the email, so I’m tickled pink that I could get to you. Here we go.

I’m 60 pounds overweight, 48 years old. I’m an architect by career, I’m a mom. I had my second child seven years ago, he’ll be eight shortly. I’m not working at this moment and being a mom is fine. My husband and I, we had some marital issues a little ways back and that’s when the weight came on and we’re back together now. I’m completely financially dependent on him, and my metabolism has slowed down. Very, very slow. It was all the way down at the bottom of the chart that the doctor — so now they have me on Synthroid. They had me on a very low quantity of it, and now my metabolism is up to the right speed but, the weight doesn’t come off even with the right speed. I feel like I’m in a fat suit. So I — finding your book I have –

Jon:  

Okay.

Melissa:  

The question I have is — and I’m going to follow your program. I’m very thrilled that it’s out there and that you’ve made this available to us other people out there, but what about the doctor and the Synthroid and now he says I’m borderline diabetic. Your program sounds like it has all the answers.

Jon:  

Okay, let me ask you some questions. You said that the weight came on when you had marital problems; is that right?

Melissa:  

Right. At the height of the stress there were a lot of problems, there were a lot of troubles going on.

Jon:  

How long ago was that?

Melissa:  

Well, we reconciled in January of — earlier this year.

Jon:  

So you put the weight on when? A year ago is what you’re saying?

Melissa:  

It’s about — no. It’s going back about three years it started. It came on in ’07. Began to come on in ’07, so that’s two years. I’m going to say it’s two years.

Jon:  

Okay, two years, two years. Okay, now prior to that –

Melissa:  

I mean I had gained 60 pounds with the birth of my son and then I lost 40 and then I lost another 20, so I got back down.

Jon:  

Okay. Was it a struggle to lose that weight, Melissa?

Melissa:  

It was not so bad with the 40 pounds. The last 20 it was hard. I went to Weight Watchers.

Jon:  

How long ago was that?

Melissa:  

I think it was ’04, ’05. So we’re going back five years, four or five years. I have periodontal disease. I have periodontal disease also, which is also probably a problem here.

Jon:  

Okay. So let me ask you one other question. Prior to having kids, did you ever have a weight issue?

Melissa:  

Well, I was always overweight, like about 10 or 20 pounds, but not like this. This is a lot.

Jon:  

Were you a dieter?

Melissa:  

More or less, yeah.

Jon:  

Okay. All right, I want to say two things to you because you’re just starting right now. So you understand, from the conversation that we’ve had, the importance of dealing with stress. If you deal with your stresses properly and you’re able to turn off the FAT programs, your metabolism will speed up, your body will become more sensitive to insulin, and that will help with the Type 2 Diabetes, and it will help you become more efficient in losing weight. It’s all going to happen at once. It’s all related to the same issue, and that is the intense stress that you’re feeling.

So, as a mother, the first thing I want to say to you is, if you read the newsletter that we just sent out, I made a meditation called the Living Goddess Meditation which is specifically geared towards high stressed mothers and women that are just on the go and always giving and giving and giving and always feeling depleted. Helping women in that situation, which is similar to what you’re describing to me, reconnect with their own source of their power so that you don’t feel so dependent, so that you don’t feel like you’re being drained, and that you’re reducing the stress in your life. It’s going to have such an enormous impact on your life. So what I want you to do is I want you to email Jenny at my office and her address is orders@gabrielmethod.com.

Melissa:  

Okay.

Jon:  

Okay. I want you to email her and ask her to send you the Living Goddess Meditation. Tell her to send it to you, our compliments, because you’re calling me on the show. I want you to listen to that. Can you listen to it? Is there a time you can listen every morning for 25 minutes?

Melissa:  

I certainly can. The first thing, early morning, is fine and you think that will help -

Then I want you to listen to that first thing — I can’t tell you how much it’s going to help you, it’s going to address the real issue. You will feel some of that stress -

Melissa:  

That underlying psychological — that fear or whatever it is that — you know I was an independent, I was an architect, this is my career. I was always an independent career woman and now I’m like oh.

Jon:  

Okay. So listen to me. All that stress is what’s causing your body to hold on to weight. It’s causing chemistry that’s activating your FAT programs. And that’s our problem, is that our stresses cause chemistry in our body that activates these ancient survival programs. So your body is actually thinking it’s protecting you by activating these programs, but when you deal with the stress, the chemistry goes away. Listen to that at night, listen to this in the morning, take my advice on regulating your blood sugar through adding certain foods, especially at breakfast, that I talk about in The Gabriel Method, proteins and omega-3s. Always have omega-3s every single day and always get as much live food as possible. Do that for a month and then call me back, okay?
